Question 91 ranger shifting question (shift points)

I have a 91 ranger 2.3 eng 2wd automatic, I had some shifting problems, however, I had replaced the Governor and the intermediate and OD servos, and the shifting went back to normal.

My question is about shift points , I did some tweeking by adjusting the bands in 1/3 more turn than specs and adjusting the vac modulator, and I was wondering if I got it right.

She shifts into second at about 8 to 10 mph, Into Drive at about 25 mph, but Overdrive I can't seem to change it shifts into OD sometimes at 37 mph and sometimes at 40 to 42 mph, is this normal?

Sometimes I feel I should let off the gas a little to lower the rpms from 2000 to 1500 when I running at a steady 35 mph . It seems to run smoother by doing this, otherwise it seems as if its between a shift point instead of just running in standard drive. Am I thinking to much here, and does this sound normal?
