Default 93 ranger

Ok, I have changed out the oil in the rear end and transmission. The drive shaft has all new u joints and center support bearing. I still have a humming sound comming from the rear. It sounds like oversized tires but they are stock tires. It only humms when you put on the gas so it makes me think that it is comming from the drive shaft but I am stumped. It is a 93 4.0 4x4 SC pickup with manual tranny. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thank you.

Sounds like worn bearings.[hr]Did it do it before you changed the oil in the rear?

yes it did. and if it is a bearing would it be like a ring and pinion gear bearing or somewhere in the rear differential. If it was a wheel bearing wouldn't make the sound all the time not just when I accelerate.

Well, I put the rear axle on jackstands and spun the wheels and it was indeed the rearend. So we took appart the rearend and found that the ring and pinion bearings were shot. I am now waiting on parts so that I can put it back together and test drive. However I think my clutch is going now so that is another project on another day soon to come. I didn't realize though that those rear axles are posi. The taction lock rear end anyways. Thanks for your help and I will let you know how it comes out.
