96 Ranger windshield wiper motor
I need to replace the windshield wiper motor. This is my first time to replace a wiper motor. I have removed the motor mounting bolts but cannot get the clip off.
Can anyone describe how to remove the clip holding the wiper arms together?
Thanks

I meant to add that I have removed the plate and can just touch the clip but cannot get fingers firmly on it to release because of the spring tension. The manual says to turn the wipers straight up, but with a dead motor I cannot do that - did get them about half way there.

I don't know what the clip looks like. So is it a C clip? Take needle nose pliers and place it where the 2 ends are and push down on the clip. I would put a rag under wher ethe clip will come out so it doesn't go flying and you lose it.

Thanks for the reminder about putting a rag underneath to keep from losing the clip. I will try again to get needlenose pliers on the clip and push it off. The biggest problem is reaching the clip through the small access plate.
From what I can see from the side through the plate it is not a flat c clip but a c clip with a folded over piece that must be a double clip to securely retain the clip.

RE: 2003 Crownvic windshield wiper motor
Hi, I read your experience in removing the cap of the motor arm for my Crownvic. I have the same problem. There is a clip and, do I have to do some thing about the clip to be able to remove the cap. Just to remoce the cap is veyr difficult.
Please advise.
Thanks.
