97 ranger 2.3L 0340 code will not erase

97 ranger 2.3L 0340 code . cam position sensor failed. replaced sensor and erased code but comes back after a few minutes driving. any ideas?

check the wiring to and from the sensor to the pcm. It's also not uncommon for something this old to have a processor concern.
