97 Ranger

I have a 97 ranger 3.0 automatic, having issues with rough idling skipping and jerking , when first crank up truck has a rough idle but then it leavels out , then going down the road does fine until it hits overdrive then it starts skipping and jearking , sometimes it does it then other times it don’t, i notice if it sits for several days before i drive it its worst , i have cleaned mass air flow sensor , installed plugs and wires , if fact when i replaced the plugs and wires it ran fine for about a week then started back doing the same thing , it only does it in overdrive trying to get up to speed , once i get to the speed and don’t have to push the gas it stops but time i give it gas it starts back skipping and jerking, any help on what my next step should be please let me know

Make sure its not a misfire under load. Check for codes and fuel pressure.I once had a plugged fuel filter do the exact same thing. If the engine checks good, you may have a torque converter issue.

would that be the fuel filter under the driver side under the seat mounted to the frame ?
