Default which is corrrect fuel injection cleaning method?

I have a 92' Ford Ranger with 2.9 V6. I had the fuel injectors cleaned this weekend. The mechanic hooked up this fuel injector drip hose with gauge to the brake booster vacuum tube with the engine running. He also poured the same brand cleaner in the gas tank and cleaned out the throttle body.

Is this method really effective for cleaning out the injectors?

The reason I ask is because another mechanic uses a different method. He disconnects electricity to the fuel pump. And I believe he runs the engine on straight fuel injection cleaner.

Which is the proper method?

Thanks,
Dave

The method you described is the way we do it in my shop, always seems to be effective.
