engine lift

Default engine lift

ok i have a engine hosit the mounting bolts are off now i need to know where to put a chain or a four way pulley to lift the engine up i have a 2000 for ranger a automatic have to raise the engine 2 inches to let the oil pan down i know its on the exhaust manifold but where do i put the chain pull a bolt out or what

Does your motor have the factory lifting eyes on it, should look like a bracket with aover size hole in, one towards the back of motor on the passer side and one towards the front drives side, my ranger has them located there but mine is a 89 so i don't know it info is correct for your's

The factory lifting eyes are on the exhaust manifolds, usually. If they were removed just take out two exhaust manifold or intake bolts and put a flat washer over the one bolt (I would recommend a little longer grade 8 bolt than stock to bolt the chain on) and put it through the chain and into the hole on one side. Then get the correct length of chain in and insert the bolt through and install the other side. The chain should lay into your hook on your hoist. If the motor isn't coming out the way you'd like you can switch bolt holes (and bolts) as needed to achieve proper tilt and balance (although if you have a screw-operated tilt adjustment bracket on your hoist you may not have to worry).
