Default exhaust

i was wondering if there is a way to fool the sensor that is behind the cat on a 96 ford ranger with the 4.0 you see i live in a area that we do not have to have the vehicles emmisions checked so i was going to remove my cat from my truck to increase mileage and performance, but i dont know what to do about the sensor. so if anyone could give me information about either how to fool the computer into thinking that everything is fine, of if it wont make a difference if that sensor doesnt read correctly. thanks

Don't think your going to increace mileage and performance by much if you remove it. The sensor works in the .1v to .9v range and it lags the front sensor in its movement between that range. If you remove the cat. I'd suspect the computer will sense the 2 sensors running the same and set the check eng. light. You'd be better off uping for a high flow performance cat

One of my Grand Prix sites sells a rear O2 sensor simulator for $26, I use one on my GTP. Its basicly a resistor that plugs into the harness and tells the ecm that the rear sensor is functioning properly. I'm not saying that it will be the same connector as yours, but it wouldnt take much to make one.
