Front Bumper of a 2002 Ford Ranger
My sweet wife rear-ended someone in my 2002 Ford Ranger. I need to remove the bumper temporarly to prevent accidental tire damage. Can someone walk me through it please -- the main thing I'm worried about is the airbags. I don't know where the switch for those are at, and I would hate to add that to the list of opppsss.
Thanks,
Bill

I'm supprised that they didn't go off when she hit. I;m not not sure where the are in the 02 . I haven't had to deal airbags to much but I hope this helps at least a little. what I would do is dissconnect the battery so that you don't accedently set them off. Then you can look for the wires that lead to the sensors and remove them safely. from there mounts.Once you get the bumper off you can ziptie th sensors to the frame or whats left of the bumper. then there's always the option of taking it to a body shop or dealer and have them deal with the sensors, but then you are out the cost of that as well as fixing your truck.

I have an '06 ranger and had an '04 that I took the bumper off of and the only wires you have to worry about are the foglight wires, if the '02 is the same. There are two bolts on each side and it comes right off, takes about 10 min.

Thank you very much -- a buddy and I took your advice and it looks like 4 bolts and I'm done. I have to wait for the claims adjuster to check it out then I'm pullin it. Thanks again!!
