Default Idle 500-1000 rpm ?

Hi

My Ranger idles cold between 500-1000 rpm.
Is a 3.0 1994. TPS?IACV?
Is over when you put it in driver.
Anybody had that with their Ranger?
Also starts ruff ,turns over twice and stalls.
But runs good when warm.
Had plugs ,wires ,distrbt cap, roter, all filters ,oil changed.
Is it fuel pump, sensors ,valve s,vacuum, eci, tps, icv ore whatever?

Thanks for the help.

Find the specs to test the IAC with an ohm meter, and I will bet your are close or out of spec.

unplug your TPS and see if it changes the way it runs, if it doesnt, that would be your problem, if it does......continue your search LOL

check your IAC for proper mechanical operation....

disconnect IAC from engine but leave wire harness connected...look inside.....is it clogged with black carbon deposits? if so...clean it out as described below

have someone turn ignition on and off (dont start engine) while you watch to make sure the small shaft moves inside IAC to seal the channel...It wont very much but it WILL move....if it is stuck then clean it out

if it is stuck...use carb cleaner and a little WD40 to clean and lube it...use a small screwdrive to free up the IAC shaft by prying against the larger piece attached to the top of the shaft....DONT pry hard or you could damage it...just free it up if its stuck..clean deposits off...on/off ignition test it again for movement...

replace if shaft is stuck
