Default idle head scratcher

I have a 88 with a 2.3ltr and it starts fine and runs fine between 1400-3200rpm. When it warms up it stutters about every forth revolution?? I've changed the wires to Accel superstock, put in a new MSD blaster 2 coil, cleaned the injectors and throttle plate and still it does it. My old school mechanic sugeested the idle air control valve but will this do anything for the upper end rpm. Any suggestions besides the compactor are gladly accepted.
