Question Idles high in 4wd

The last two times I have used my 4wd... last night and almost a year ago... both times in icy conditions it wants to idle around 2000 rmp. I almost stroked out by the time i got to the bottom of Vail pass.
any suggestions..

I live in Colorado as well these cars aren supposed to idle that high. However, more info on the powertrain and car might help. If it only does it only when in 4X4, that's a new one on me. If it does, then I'd look for a wiring problem or any other commanailty you can think of.
Otherwise, it's just the usual menu of Floormats, throttle body being gunked up, or sticking IAC.

its a 5 speed manual with manual hubs. Embarrassingly I think it might have just been floor mat issues. Thanks for your Help gm
