Default motor swapping

I have a 200 ranger 4x4 with a 3.0 ,it seems to have a blowed head gasket or a cracked head.
My brother has the same truck but a 1999 with a 4.0 would there be any major modifications have to be done if I installed a 4.0 in my truck. It has 200,000+ miles on it . I dont see any need in just repairing the head . Would a 4.0 be a headache or do I need to go with 3.0 thnxs.
