Hi
I have not kept abreast of Ford Engines since owning a 1971 Boss Mustang 351C back in 1971. Bought it brand new from Milton Ontario, totally loaded $4537.10 (Wish I still owned it )
I am embarking on a new project. I have a Restored 1948 Ford Thames (Anglia) Panel Van Body and Chassis and I want to keep it "an all Ford vehicle". I am not interested in massive power for the Van because its as light as a feather. So we have shortened a Ford Rear End. Now my intention is to put in a Ford V6 and Automatic Transmission.
What I know about V6s can be put on a pin head. We intend on getting the engine and transmission from a trusty salvage yard near by. The first obvious conclusion is to go for the biggest V6 that Ford makes and because it is rear wheel drive look for a Ford Ranger carcass with a good engine and transmission.
So the question is if you had a choice of any V6/Auto combo(with exception of the racing V6s ) which combo is the one that would be most bullet proof ? Is there such a thing as a 4 bolt main in a V6 ?
If I wanted to add an Eaton M90 Blower later, which V6 is the toughest?
Any help would be appreciated. My intelligence level is really limited to the V8s and have never owned a Ford Truck or Ford V6.
Thanks for any help in advance.
