Default newbie help please

Hi all,
I am looking to buy a 1998 Ranger XLT, with 4 cylinder and 5 speed manual. My question is: When you turn the heater on the A/C clutch engages. Is this easily fixed?
Next question:
There are no back up lights, is this easily fixed?
I have no idea how to fix these items, but I could if I was told how. I just really like the truck and would be able to afford this one and not have to ride with my Dad all the time. If anybody could help me with this it would appreciated deeply.
Thanks
Mickey

What do you mean by "Turn the Heater On"?. Any time you have the vent selection on either Defrost (windshield) or Defrost/Floor, the A/C will run. The system is designed to do so to blow dry air over the windshield to keep the windshield from fogginh up. The back-up light issue could jusy be the light switch in the transmission, or both bulbs are bad.

The AC clutch engages in any position except vent and off, that is how it is designed to work.

Backup lights?Fuse, bulbs, switch
