oil pressure gage does not move until car warms up

2000 ford ranger

4 cyl

need help

how serious is this

how can I fix it

If you are not hearing strange noises from the engine, replace the oil pressure switch. This has been brought up here before. I had the same problem, replaced the switch and the gauge reads correctly, even at temps below 0!

I agree! I have replaced several oil pressure switches on that engine. It is on the right side of the engine block.
