Default oil pressure sending unit

Hello ,

2001 ranger 2.3 liter 5 speed 167k miles
I am changing OPSU as I notice a gauge needle occasionally flickering an 1/8 inch or so. I was told this gauge. It either has pressure or it does not. Therefore, an occasional flicker means the sending unit is going.

I found the unit next to the oil filter.
Any suggestions /tips on changing unit?

Thnaks in advance

The oil presure sender is not a true presure gauge but merrily an on off switch that causes the gauge to move to apreset reading on the gauge it is nothing more than an idiot with a pointer instead of a light if there is enough presure to close the switch the gauge pointer will move to somewhere near the middle dial regardless of the actual presure. to change the switch just pull the wire off and unscrew it if it is the original switch it may require a special wrench a good pair of pliers will work. before you change it check that the wire connecter is clean and tight the will get loose and oil soaked with age
