I just bought a 96 ranger 4.0L v6 2x4 the engine light is on and I get code p1443 it sometimes idles really rough and even dies sometimes any I have ordered me a new canister purge valve is there any reason to buy a thermistor or a new canister?? or does the problem lie elsewhere?? any help would be appriciated

 

This code/problem will generally not cause idle problems unless the vaccum hose is leaking. Most of the times when I find this code I replace the purge valve and the sensor. At one time Ford offered these as an assembly with the hoses, not sure if they still have the part that way.

 

I have purchased new hoses and also a new purge valve should i replace the thermistor as well? So u think my idle problem is related to something else? I really dont think i have a vaccum leak beacuase the truck had been turned off for a while and i took the brake booster line off and it still sucked air in at first from the vaccum
