Default rack and pinion

hello all,
I have a 2002 ranger xlt, extended cab, 4 doors, the rack and pinion seal is leaking, can you change the seal? or do you need to replace the whole thing? if you have to replace it, how hard is it? approximate time frame, thank you, any help is appreciated

Thumbs up

Welcome to the site..

It would be an exchange rack.

Not too hard to do, but may depend (time) on if you have done any steering/end-joint/suspension work prior (?), tools you have etc. I can send you some illustrations and step procedure if you feel you want to tackle it. Many here have done racks, and if you want to preview the illustrations first, I can send them along and see if you have questions for us within the scope of the job..

Default rack and pinion

if you could please, I have done some front end work, replaced ball joints, tie rod ends, I just have never done a rack and pinion, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would say my abilities are about a 6 to 7 on skill, is this an all day job? thank you for your time and trouble
