Ranger auto trans problem

Default Ranger auto trans problem
I recently bought a 2004 Ranger with auto trans. When it shifts from first to second gear the engine revs and then it shifts hard. It only does it on this shift, can anyone help?

Depending on the engine you have, you probably have either a 4r55 or 5r55 transmission. The symptom sounds like the gasket is blown out in the valve body separator plate.
