Default Rear anti-lock brake light on

I just bought a 1991 Ford Ranger XLT for my son (94,000 miles). After I got it home, I noticed that the brake light (RED) and the Anti-lock light (amber) came on. They do go off sporadically and are off more than they are on, but what causes this and is there a simple fix? Thanks

There is one simple fix.[hr]There is a sensor in the rear end for the ABS system.[hr] Pull it out and clean it if there is any metal on the end of the sensor replace the fluid in the rear.[hr]After you install the sensor disconnect the ground on the battery for a few minutes to clear the stored code.[hr]If this does not work out for you you will have to det the code's read from the ABS system.

Thanks, Can you give me an idea of where this sensor is and what it looks like? Is it only on one side or both?

By the rear of the driveshaft on the rear end.Look for 2 wires going on to the sensor and one small bolt removes it.

My Bronco II does the same thing, the dealer told me I'd probably have to replace the RABS, rear antilock brake sensor
