Serious Brake Problem
Hello all!
After replacing my brake master cylinder, my brake vacuum booster, my rotors and front brake pads, it is still incredibly hard to stop my Ranger! It's a 1994 with the 4.0 ltr engine. I tried to bleed the brakes the other day and the front bled out fine (hurray for the Mighty Vac!) but when I tried to bleed out the rear drum brakes, no fluid would come out. I don't think my back brakes are working at all. My Haynes manual says just about nothing about this problem. Does anyone have any ideas? I have to push really, really hard to get this truck to stop!
Thanks all.

Check to make sure the bleeder screws aren't plugged. Take them out and push on the brake pedel to see if you can get any fluid. If you don't get any fluid then you might have a pluged line. Start from the back and loosen a fitting to see if you can get any fluid by pushing on the brake pedel. I have seen brake lines corroded to the point that no fluid will pass, usally it is where the brake line passes closest to the exhaust manifold on the drivers side. Make sure the wheel cylinders aren't rusted inside too.
Just a follow-up...
My problem ended up being the rear-anti lock brake valve. Apparently they are a fairly common item to replace in the 93 and 94 Rangers. I pulled the other RABS valve off in about 5 minutes, installed the new one, bled out all the brake lines, and wal A! Perfect brakes again. If you buy the part from Ford it will set you back about $220. Buy it from NAPA, without the core, you're looking at a $100.
