I had new front brake pads put on about 5 months ago. The brakes smelled hot for awhile after they were done and then quit smelling. Last week I had them checked again because they were squealing like crazy all the time I was driving. The drivers side front brake was dragging - he put new brake pads on again thought it should take care of the problem. I picked it up yesterday - it stopped squealing but same side is smelling hot again. He says there may be a problem with the ABS. Does anyone have any suggestions - I am going to have it looked at again on monday - he says it must be the ABS.

Sounds like the front brake Caliper may be sticking, causing the brake pads to drag , an having constant pressure on them.

Yes they will be hot an smell, in effect your riding around with the brakes lightly applied

This is a very common problem, you can not always just install a new set of front pads, an call it a Brake Job.
