05 Taurus Bad fuel economy
Hello..
I have a 2005 Ford Taurus with 26,000 miles on it. I have been getting on the average about 11 miles to the gallon. I have had it to the local dealership and they upgraded the computer once, (which worked for about 2 days and then the fuel mileage went back to the same ole sh*t. They keep telling me that the 11 miles to the gallon is what it is suppose to be and basically get used to it. According to ford I should be getting somewhere around 20 in the city and 29 highway. Any one with any help on what could be the problem please reply, gas is to expensive for this poor of fuel economy.

The car is under warranty and Ford should fix it. You are right about the gas mileage....11 is no good. Report the dealership to the http://www.bbb.com if you are having issues, and then get ready to have your butt kissed. LOL! Been there done that!

If the upgrade on the computer worked, maybe there is something wrong with the computer. I read in my manual for my 01 wagon that the transmission takes a couple hundred miles to learn your driving style and adjust shifting accordingly. Maybe the computer does the same and it worked well the first couple days and it is "learning" something incorrectly and ruining your gas mileage.

I just soldour 2000 Taurus with the 3.0 DOHC engine to my son and drove it to Columbus, OH to drop it off to him. Have 86,000 miles on the car, pretty much ran 75MPH all the way and got 29MPG. Heck, our new 2008 Sable with the 3.5 DOHC engine with got us 28MPG and it only has 1,800 miles on it.
