1987 Taurus I have to remove the head
Thank you for the support. I have every intention of doing it and have to do it. I refuse to pay the $600 quoted to me for a gasket replacement. I wanted to know what I am looking at in the area of time needed and any helpful hints.
Doing this out of your garage, I'd set aside the whole weekend to make sure it gets done. Its pretty easy getting things out of the way if this isn't an OHC engine. If they quoted you $600 and let say that is only laber then at $70 an hour thats about 8.5 hrs. Use sandwich bags to keep nuts and bults together with the part they come from. Label wires if you're not sure you are going to remember where they go. And set the engine a TDC (#1 cyl. top dead center). good luck
