Default 2002 Taurus belt problem

Hello
I have a 2002 Taurus it runs good. So my wifes daughter needed a car so I gave it to her. She has been driving it for sometime also no problems until last night. The belt broke I replaced it and it broke again. Yes it was put on the right way!!! What would cause it to break???
Thanks to all for reading and for any advice

Possibly a bad tensioner or a pulley that is not aligned correctly. Sorry so late in answering.

Well, I just changed out the a/c clutch pulley beacuse our 2001 LX started making a loud noise from the engine compartment. I posted a couple of video's on youtube and got some advice to check all the pulley's. I changed the idler & tensioner pulleys but no luck-noise still there. Then with the belt off I checked to see if I could turn the pulleys by hand. Sure enough I could only rotate the a/c pulley a little bit. It was explained to me that when pulley bearings go bad the pulley stops turning & one of the next things that happens is belt snap. When the a/c pulley goes bad it can not only snap the belt but it can also fry the a/c compressor. My suggestion would be to do as I was advised: check & see if you can turn the pulleys with the belt off. In our case our daughter was driving the car one day & then the noise started. No warning. But we got the a/c pulley changed without having to discharge the compressor. saved lots of $$. Sites like this are so much help. Good luck!
