Default 2003 Taurus engine "chirp"???

Changed oil in the `ol ladys car this even`n know`n we had heard that Chirp for a week or 2.....I expected it to be on the pass. side....belt/water pump? Not the case, seems to be above the trans/engine side.
For reference as to what has happen in the past, the drive shft was replaced.....went plum out....but that was 20,000 miles ago. The car has almost 110,000 mi. on it. The chirp`n has me worried. `preciate any imput!!!

More than likely it is the camshaft positioning sensor syncronizer. It is the equivalent to the distributor shaft on other vehicles. Here is a thread that addresses your noise.

https://www.fordforum.com/forum/show...ht=syncronizer

There are alot of repair information for this on the web. Good luck.
