Default 2005 Ford Taurus SEL

I bought a 2005 Ford Taurus SE, and I only got one key. The key does not open the trunk lock. Despite I can open the trunk from the remote pushbutton, I still want to know if this model came with a remote entry key, if so, I though to buy one in Ebay and program it. The vin # is 1FAFP53U15A130586.

Any help is welcome.

You say that the key does not open the trunk. Is the lock broken or was there a changed key at some point? Regardless it sounds unusual. Look for a red **** on the middle of the dash by the windshield. That should be an indicator if it had one originally or not. Most Taurus SE models I've seen generally had a remote keyless entry; however, I'm not necessarily an expert per sey.

Ok, I'll check the red button, I guess there should be a red blinking light. Probably the key I have is the valet parking key, which not allow to open the trunk, and in some cars the glove compartment too.

I would guess, again, I'm not an expert on these cars. Is the key that your Taurus came with a "Ford" name brand key with the black plastic/rubber cover or something else?

The thing that is a little odd about this situation is we have had three Tauruses (2 1998 models LX & SE, and a 2004 SES) and I've never seen a valet key for these before and I know at least on the SES it has I think like an engine immobilizer if the key lacks the chip in it. Perhaps this was only an option or something else, again I stress that I'm not an expert.

If it has the **** on the top like the SES we have, it does flash but I think it only flashes when the door are locked. If the **** is there it probably did have a remote keyless entry.

Well, I went to a locksmith and he found my key profile was not the same on both sides of the key. He fixed it, and now it opens the trunk lock. He also sold me a new key (spare) and programmed for $50.00. The dealership sells it for $100.00.

I also bought a remote keyles entry (Ebay) for $15.00 and I programmed it. Now, I could also open the trunk remotely.

RLSH700 you are right there is no valet parking key for the Taurus.
