96 taurus speed o problem

96 taurus speed o problem

I have a 96 taurus that the speed o is having issues, it will stop working and then the car will down shift to a lower gear. Is this caused by the Vehicle speed sensor?

It could very well be, or wiring issue. Does the ABS lamp illuminate when this happens?

Melted wires were the issue, replaced the wires and it runs perfect now.
