I have a 99 Taurus with a motorized antenna that is beginning to make noise when running down after the radio is turned off. I have tried putting some oil on the overlapping joints of the antenna (today) we'll see if there is a difference tomorrow. Is there a trick that anyone knows to extend the useful life of this without replacement? My next idea is to remove the electrical connector to the antenna when it's in the up position and leave it there. The fuse for the antenna appears to run the power mirrors as well, so I don't want to pull the fuse.
