Default cigarette lighter

Hello !

Could someone told me which voltage the Taurus cigarette lighter is ?

I'm asking that because I'm living in France (I'm french) and
all the cigarette lighters here have a "12 V voltage"

When I'm trying to charge my TomTom GPS by the cigarette lighter
of my Taurus, nothing happens.
I'm sure that the "charging device" is working as the charge light
works on my other car (a French one)

The same problem occured when I was in Arizona (vacation) and
try to charge (with the same device) my TomTom GPS on my Ford Explorer rental car

Thank you

Should be 12 volts as well.

What about the Polarity? the center pin is + and the outside is - here. I doubt it should be different, but I don't know how the cars are there and I am just throwing out some ideas.

Check the fuse in the I/P fuse box.. Also for a clean contact/connect in the lighter receptacle..
