Crash damage guessing maybe some type of charcoal canister or emissions stuff???? 1996 Ford Taurus POS

 

Anyone have an idea FYI the shots you are looking at are at the rear of the car under the spare tire well.

 

You are correct in your thinking. It is the emssions cannister that used to be used to be under the hood.
Pull the flat plastic cnnister out f the metal housing and look for cracks, broken seals, or broken solenoids. If everything is intact, you can straighten the metal holder and re-bolt it to car.

 

Cool thanks. No CEL lights are on so I guess we'll just try our best to straighten the metal out and if all else fails zip tie it up there. My friend will rest easier now know its not going catch fire immediately from that at least.
