Default Help with 3.0

2001 taurus . Scan tool came up PO302. Misfire number two cylinder. Found torn plug boot. While changing wires I installed new plugs. Properly gapped at 46 and installed new wires. Double checked firing order and routing of wires . Disconnected battery to clear comp .check engine light no longer on and blinking but engine has miss and now pings on hard acceleration.. I thought maybe cross wire somewhere but all check out correct. This is a u coded engine and takes the short reach platinum. dont know if that makes differance thou . Help any ideas on whats next to check
