Default Help Help Help sputtering problem

My 95 Ford Explorer ( 4.0 ) seems to be sputtering as i come to a stop. When i drive on the freeway it runs perfectly but as i pull off the exit and come to a stop it sputters below idle and then sputters and returns to idle as if nothing happen. Anoyone have an idea what it could be?? Please HELP!!!

Try, removing your IAC valve on the side of the throttle body an cleaning it up getting the gunk outta it , I use just reg carb. cleaner . Really helps an brings your Idle back up , An makes it start easier , An idles smoother

Mine did the same thing eventually it stopped running completely I ended up drilling holes in the cat converters and busting up the honeycomb inside and it ran perfect after that

Something you might consider,
If you connect a simple vacuum gauge to the intake and watch the vacuum reading as you raise the engine RPM, if the gauge reading continues to drop there is a restriction in the exhaust system. It could be the converter(s) or some other restriction. Disconnecting the converter or removing the O2 sensor (before the converter) will usually allow the pressure to exit and confirm the diagnosis.
