Default 89 2 litre non turbo Probe - starting problem

Hello Everyone,
I have an 89 probe that I've owned since new that's got 180,000 miles on the original clutch. I took it out yesterday and the following happened:
1. Started to overheat - as soon as it got to the top of "normal" temp range I pulled over and shut the car down
2. Realized I had a small cooling leak
3. filled the rad up and my wife towed me 18 miles home
4. as we were going home I would put it in 4th gear at round 50 MPH to give me power (battery was dead too) and if I put the engine in neutral while foot off the accelerator while being towedthe enginewould promptly shut down. I thought this to be just the dead battery sinceIthought it wasn't providing enough amps.
5. I also noticed that while being towed at 50 MPH if I put the car in netural after jumping it from 4th gear I could rev the engine up if I kept my foot on the accelerator, so I think this rules out a fuel/distributor problem
6. Got home, fixed the coolant leak and R&R the battery and now all the engined does is simply turn over...it won't catch.

Any Ideas?
