Ford Thunderbird Starting in the 1950s, this was a classic American sports cars, from the compact original of the 1950s, to the muscular hard top coupes of the 1980s and 1990s to the retro look of the 2003 model year, this car is, and always will be, an American classic.

Default 1997 Thunderbird LX

Help-I'm buying this car from a good friend of mine, it's got 96,000 miles on it, the car hasn't been moved for 11 months, it did start right up, but idles rough after putting new spark plugs in it. The big problem is the key is stuck in the ignition!! I need to get this car home, and don't want to leave the key in there.

Anyone out there have any suggestions or may know why it's stuck?

Thanks in advance.

The steering column has a key release button to push to take the key out - most likely just push the button.

The key may also not come out if you have the switch turned all the way back in the accessory position - it should be one click before that where it will release. This basic stuff should be covered in an owners manual (if you have one available).
