Default 1964 292 f-250

I just rebuilt my 292 engine on my 1964 F-250 with the aid of some friends. The oil pressure starts off at 40 lbs. and drops to around 20 lbs. after warming up the engine. The oil pump is brand new and we followed the torque guidlines for bearing clearance. What should I do next to trace down the problem? I have not driven the truck down the highway yet and have only driven it around my friends 20 acre property. A local car parts manager suggested dropping the oil pan to see if there is an oil valley plug missing. I am not to familiar with what an oil valley plug is. I would appreciate some direction from those who maybe familiar with this kind of situation.

Sincerely Dan Hazen
