Default 1965 Ford Thunderbird

I recently purchased a 1965 Ford Thunderbird. Everything worked on it when I picked it up and loaded it on my trailer. My trailer has high wheel wells, so I had to climb out the window becuase the doors would not open far enough. When I got the car home, it was dark and I couldn't find the parking brake release (becuase I couldn't open the doors), and I just thought, screw it and I backed it off anyway. About halfway down the ramp I heard a loud snap, and the brakes did not work. I have looked underneath the car and all the brake lines are intact, I am wondering if the parking brake has a master control over all the brakes or something??? If anyone has any thoughts at all..... Thanks!
