1995 150 S/C 4x4 no power
I have a 95 150 supercab long box 4x4 with the 5.0L ahead of a 5 spd manual. I know the motor is way under sized for the truck, but I really like the truck. I don't have any low end power until I get over 1500rpm, then it's like a whole different truck, grant it, it's not a rocket, but at least I am getting into the power band. So, how can I put some more low end power into the truck and still maintain some fuel economy and stay with in a tight budget? A friend suggested turbo or supercharger, but don't they work more efficiently athigher RPMS?
You can try small things like a spacer for the intake. A few manufacturers have them with a milled interior to create a vortex with incomming air. Better fuel mixture will grab up more HP in all ranges. Another is, (and I haven't tried it), to put on an electric supercharger. Lower cost than most turbos, easy to install. So just about anything to upgrade the intake/ exhaust to make her breathe easier and better fuel mixture will help, and may improve your gas milage as well.
Keeping to the veh. specs on tire size and use the recommended octane rated gasoline per the owners manual.
