2000 Windstar Charging System Problems
I own a 2000 Ford Windstar SEL. The batterykeeps dying.A charging system check was completed. The alternator was said to be defective andwas replaced. Two weeks later the battery died again.Another charging system check was completed - battery and alternator checked out good. Any ideas what could be causing my battery to dye?
Just worked on a 2000 Windstar for a friend of mine. Same issue. Battery would randomly be dead. Placed an AMP CLAMP on the + battery lead feeding the vehicles fuse boxes. Was getting a periodic 11-12 amp load. Started pulling fuses until the amp load stopped. The pulled fuse was for the rear wiper moter. The wiper moter was hung up in the on position, so it was going thru a constant delay wipe. Motor was hotter than snot, but was never overloaded enough to blow the fuse. Tore the motor apart and repaired theit. Reinstalled the fuse and all is working fine. Just something to look for. But definately look for a load on the battery. In an OFF and IDLE state, the normal load on my friends Windstar is .6-.7 amps.
