2001 F150 4.6 code p0402

Smile 2001 F150 4.6 code p0402

Check engine light came on 25 mi. after fill up.Ran code myself p0402 excessive recirculation,changed EGR valve no help.Took to ford dealer he ran pin point diagnostic test, same code came up he said the DFPE sensor was bad.Replaced that myself no help.Engine will miss bad at times and run fine at times. I am a new member and hope i have this in the right place.

Was the new DPFE a FORD part or an aftermarket part? I have seen several NEW aftermarket DPFE modules cause the exact problem that they were purchased to fix. Also, check the vacuum hoses for the EGR valve and the silicone pressure differential lines for the DPFE to ensure they are all OK. A bad vacuum line or pressure differential line can cause the problem also.

i will check on that, my brother who is a master electrician and can fix anything is at work right now.He has it at his house.Thanks Roger

Hi , having the same problem with my '02 Mountaineer 4.6 but showing a code po401 egr insufficient flow. Did you find a resolution to your problem?

replaced egr valve and dpfe sensor.... but found 3 bad coils and that was the problem
