Default 2001 zx2 "hesitation"

I have a 2001 zx2 that will hesitate on occasion. Doesn't do it all the time, but often. Feels almost like ignition stumbling. I changed coil pack and had timing belt and component assembly changed. Have also checked plug wires and new plugs in it. Car has 125 k on it. Are there sensors to check without have trans looked at. Usually notice when slowing for stop sign and then accelerating again. Sputters for split second and then goes.

Personally, would suspect plug wire having too much resistance, maybe from heat caused by the current running through it. But won't show with ohm test.
