Default 2002 ford explorer 4.0 cylinder wall scoring.

Hey guys. Im working on this 4.0 and i noticed these scoring lines on the cylinder walls. I don’t know much about pistons and all but what i do know is those shouldn’t be there lol. Some of the cylinders have multiple and/or want to start creating some. I can BARELY feel some with my fingernail. Do i have to break some bad news to the owner and say she toast or possibly a machine shop? Thank you! Sorry if some of the pictures are bad.

I would suggest you have a machine shop look at it and see what they feel they can do to correct that. Once they provide an estimate you can see if your customer is OK with that.
If you do nothing , it and the customer will come back to haunt you.
If you try to take a short cut and maybe do a half way measure, you will get blamed in spite of trying to save your customer some $$$.
Something went on to cause this and maybe you customer knows what that was, maybe overheated, don't know.
Believe you know what has to be done .
Either way you will need to put the choices to the customer and , after all it's her money..
As you know problems like never get better by themselves so ,,,,,,do the job right and you and you customer will sleep better.
