Default 2008 Ford Taurus X-HELP!

Hi, I am new to the forum and need some help. We purchased a 2008 Ford Taurus X in January and we have already had to bring it back twice because the right rear axle seal was leaking. I think they finally got it right this time but there is a noise that is bothering me. Most of the time when the car is in Drive, you here what is similar to a ticking noise coming from the engine (not a valve ticking, though). You can also feel it in the steering wheel and it is in sync with the noise from the engine. It goes away when the car is put in Park. When my wife asked about it, the Ford tech said it was supposed to do that. They all say that and I was hoping there was someone out there that could shed some light on whether it is indeed normal or something else. Thank you.

Can't be normal. I'd lean on the dealer a bit to get it checked further. Have another Ford dealer in the area, for a second opinion?
