77 T-bird 351 V8
Hey all-
I am not a Ford expert, but am trying to help someone with a 77 Thunderbird with a 351 V8 in it.
The fuel line that goes from the fuel pump up to the carb- is it supposed to be steel all the way to the carb, or is there supposed to be a small rubber line right near the carb where the fuel filter is?
I didn't think the small rubber section was right, until I pulled that section off and the end of the steel line had a nub on the end that looks like a rubber section would fit over it. Also the fuel filter, which is attached to the carb itself, also had an end on it which appears to be for a rubber fuel line.
Is this right? I'm surprised they would make it this way at the factory. I would think the rubber section could dry out and crack, causing fuel to leak onto a hot engine and cause a fire.
Maybe other owners with 351 V8s can tell me whether this is how it should be set up.
Thanks!
