Default '84 Timing chain cover on '91 302

Getting my feet dirty opening my first engine.
Have '91 302 roller motor which will be changed to carberated.
> Have been told swapping to '84 timing cover with manual fuel pump is smart way to go.
TRUE ?
> After swapping the timing gear to '84 the local hardware & Jegs sold me a double roller.
'84 timing cover is not fitting with he double roller& eccentric unless doing something really stupid. My guess is single roller chain is only way to go.

I JUST DID THIS JOB FOR MY SON'S TRUCK BUT IN REVERSE. 76 INTO A 91-CONVERTED TO FUEL INJECTION. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE PROPER TIMING CHAIN SINCE 84 WAS THE SWITCH OVER TIME FROM CARB TO FUEL INJECTED. Be safe and buy for a late 70's andMake sure you use the 91 water pump with serp-belt. A problem might happen when you try to hang your altenator or compressor with your fuel pump. At this point a good junk yard comes in handy to look for brackets. An electric fuel pump would be cheaper with alot less four letter words, butI always liked a challenge. I hoped I helped a little.
