Default '98 Taurus bogging down and speedometer acting goofy

I was driving down the road, and everything was fine. Out of nowhere, my car starts cutting out and bogging down.
I also noticed that my speedometer was going crazy. Any ideas? I would appreciate any help I could get.

Thanks, Anthony

Could be a weak battery , I had a similar problem on a 98 Crown Vic. the alt didnt have enough juice to keep up with every thing on, 3 days later the battery finally died , It never was hard to start , till the battery finally died !!!!

I'd start by checking the battery to see if it is alright...sounds like that would be the culprit
