Default 99 ranger stalls on hills

99 ranger stalls on hills or kind of just loses power. last time it happened i had a quarter tank of gas. threw in a couple more gallons and still woun't start. got it pushed up the hill onto flat ground and it started right up. could this be my fuel pump? i appreiciate any thoughts on what could be the problem.

could be your load sensor. any modern engine has something called a load sensor which measures the load or stress on an engine. when the load is high(driving up a hill) the load sensor (if working) sends a signal to the ecu. from there the ecu will make the neccessary adjustments.
