I have a 2003 Escape, love it great milage and so forth. Anyway a couple of months ago it started acting up lights going dim and not starting and such, got her into the driveway and she died. Tow company came out to jump her and he said that my Altenator was not charging the system right to have it checked. So I drove her in and they said all it was was a bad battery. Also was in to have the squeek that had started in the steering checked out. They replaced some fluid in the steering and said that it should fix it.
Well The squeek is worse then it had been ( so I would say not fixed). Now the airbag light is also coming on. The thing is sometimes it does, sometime it doesn't, sometimes it waits until I am driving and then it starts with the 4 flashes pause 4 flashes, does this about 6 times and then comes on solid. Other times it comes on and stays on, until the car turns off again. Now yesterday we had to this mix the ABS light. On breaking the ABS light comes on and all other lights dim and the radio goes out completely. Take foot off the brake and it all comes back on ABS goes out. So I turned every light in the car off including the radio and the ABS did not come back on. Scared to drive her now!
I have an appointment for it aweek from Monday, but I think that they will be getting her a week early as this is the only car that I have to drive and I am the soul driver at this point in our house as my husband has Parkinsons and he does not drive very much any more. It is also the only car with Air conditioning as we live where it is cool and as with the rest of the country we are having a heat wave and I need the air to take my Mother in Law places. Hope someone out there has some ideas as I really need my car.
