Best 2000+ Ford Diesel Motor???
Hi, first it depend how much you wanna invest. Are talking about an E or F-series? If you're talking about the F-series I will go up to 2003 early build, that mean with the 7.3L. Of course the 6.0L has more power, but is not as reliable as the 7.3L. All the known problems were solve on the 7.3L late build, so this is, to me, a very good choice. If you want more power and have the money, go with the 2008 with the 6.4L. The downsides are the poor fuel economy and the complexity to work on, as the 6.0L talking complexity of the repairs.
Why to you want it diesel? Just wondering.
And by the way if you need the E-series, they still using the 6.0L.
Nic.

I agree with tech ford. The 7.3 diesel is one of the best engines to have been built by ford. the late models 2001-2002 had all the kinks worked out of them when put on the assembly line. The 6.0 is a piece of crap. I know of several people who own them. I have 130000 on my f250 and the only reason I dont trade it in is because if the 6.4L. Its over engineered and too many parts to break. Twin Turbo? Give me a break. Ford has definitely lost their edge when it comes to have a guy and his garage being able to fix minor issues. You almost need an engineering degree to move around under the hood on the new stuff. If you an find a lowermile 7.3 by it and hang on.
